Find out howJoin leading experts in Lifestyle Medicine and Nutritional Psychiatry Dr Sam Manger and Dr Tetyana Rocks to gain an introduction to the evidence of using Lifestyle Medicine principles in Mental Health Care and General Practice.
It is widely understood that lifestyle interventions are effective in the management and prevention of non-communicable diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and respiratory disease. Increasingly, research is showing that this is also true for mental health and associated physical comorbidities.
Major Depressive Disorder is the leading cause of disability globally. Concerns surrounding mental health are the most common reason patients visit their general practitioner. Yet, research suggests that medical practitioners do not feel adequately resourced to provide lifestyle support to their patients.
Health practitioners including GP’s, counsellors, dietitians, psychologists, psychiatrists and nurses all play a crucial role in supporting the mental health outcomes of patients by instigating conversations around lifestyle.
This webinar provides an evidence-based, introductory overview of the role of Lifestyle Medicine and Nutritional Psychiatry for mental health care providers and general practitioners.
