Emma is a PhD student at the Food & Mood Centre. She holds a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Microbiology and Genetics, and a Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Hons) from the University of Sydney. Emma’s research interests include the gut-brain axis and personalised medicine. Her PhD project aims to use machine learning techniques to predict depression risk, with a focus on using lifestyle and gut-microbiome data. The goal is the creation of a risk-assessment tool that ties into preventative interventions that target lifestyle and the gut.
